We are seeking an experienced Traffic Control Supervisor to oversee traffic control operations on roadway, utility, construction, and maintenance projects throughout Colorado and Wyoming. This role is responsible for leading field crews, setting up and maintaining safe work zones, ensuring compliance with traffic control plans and applicable regulations, and coordinating with project teams, inspectors, clients, and public agencies.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, organized, comfortable working outdoors in changing conditions, and experienced leading crews in active roadway environments.
Key responsibilities- Supervise traffic control crews on highway, municipal, utility, and construction projects.
- Set up, inspect, maintain, and remove traffic control devices, signs, cones, barrels, arrow boards, message boards, and other work zone equipment.
- Read, interpret, and implement traffic control plans, MUTCD standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Monitor work zones to ensure safe traffic flow for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and workers.
- Coordinate daily activities with project managers, foremen, contractors, inspectors, and agency representatives.
- Conduct jobsite safety briefings and ensure crews follow company safety policies and procedures.
- Identify hazards and make field adjustments to maintain compliant and effective traffic control setups.
- Complete daily documentation, including job reports, time records, equipment logs, inspections, and incident reports.
- Train, coach, and direct crew members in proper traffic control procedures.
- Support emergency or short-notice traffic control needs as required.
- Prior experience in traffic control, roadway construction, utilities, or a related field required.
- Previous supervisory or crew lead experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of work zone safety practices and traffic control standards.
- Ability to read and follow traffic control plans and project drawings.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel to job sites across Colorado and Wyoming.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and setting traffic control devices.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor certification, or state-recognized equivalent.
- Flagger certification.
- OSHA safety training.
- CDL preferred but not required.
The good-faith expected compensation range for this role is $28 – $34 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, location, and project needs. Overtime may be available and will be paid in accordance with applicable law.
