Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading a manufacturing line or work cell that builds volumetric modules (MODs) in a safe, efficient, and quality-driven environment. This role is accountable for achieving daily production targets, maintaining inspection-ready documentation, ensuring compliance with safety and attendance standards, and driving first-pass quality throughout the manufacturing process. As a frontline leader, the Production Supervisor develops and coaches Team Leads and production employees, fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and supports employee growth through VBC's Capability Ladder framework.

The successful candidate combines strong operational leadership with people development skills, utilizing production data, lean manufacturing principles, and emerging technologies to improve performance while ensuring every module meets VBC's standards for quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The Production Supervisor serves as a critical leader in VBC's Volumetric Operating System (VOS), owning Factory Excellence standards and helping build both exceptional products and future organizational leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality

  • Lead day-to-day production activities and achieve established line-output targets including 3 MODs per day expectations where applicable.
  • Monitor cycle time against takt-time standards and proactively address bottlenecks.
  • Ensure modules are built to specification, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Drive first-pass quality and reduce rework through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to maintain production flow.
  • Conduct end-of-shift reviews and communicate production status across shifts.

Compliance, Documentation & Inspection Readiness

  • Ensure travelers are completed accurately and in real time.
  • Audit traveler packages and ACC documentation for completeness.
  • Maintain inspection readiness throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support third-party inspections, internal audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.

Safety & Workforce Compliance

  • Enforce PPE and all EHS policies without exception.
  • Lead daily safety briefings and address hazards immediately.
  • Administer attendance, discipline, and corrective action consistently.
  • Maintain audit-ready workforce records and documentation.

People Leadership & Engagement

  • Lead Team Leads and production employees through coaching, mentoring, communication, and accountability.
  • Provide structured mentorship and employee development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance reviews and development discussions.
  • Develop employees through VBC Capability Ladder programs.
  • Foster an engaged, inclusive, high-accountability culture.

Technology, Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize production dashboards, ERP/MES systems, and operational metrics.
  • Apply Lean principles, A3 problem solving, 5 Why analysis, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and validate all recommendations prior to implementation.
  • Capture operational knowledge and transfer best practices across the workforce.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or related education preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing, construction, industrial, or production experience.
  • 1+ year of supervisory, lead, or informal leadership experience preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Knowledge of lean production principles, standard work, visual management, takt time, and root-cause analysis.
  • Working understanding of volumetric assembly, framing, MEP rough-in, drywall, and finish operations.
  • Understanding of building-code compliance, inspection readiness, traveler documentation, and ACC audits.
  • Strong coaching, communication, delegation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Comfortable using ERP/MES systems, dashboards, reporting tools, and AI-assisted technologies.

Leadership Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience providing coaching, feedback, and employee development.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining accountability for performance and results.
