Job Description
Responsible for supervising production shift operations to meet scheduling, efficiency, quality, safety, housekeeping, health, and environmental requirements. This role directs hourly personnel and ensures production activities meet customer and company expectations.
Requirements: Key Responsibilities· Direct and coordinate activities of hourly employees operating machines used to produce plastic compounds and blends
· Ensure production activities meet customer and corporate requirements through safe and efficient plant operations
· Maintain responsibility for shift quality, performance, and safety, including housekeeping standards
· Manage line staffing for assigned shifts, including scheduling vacations and personal days
· Investigate accidents and administer safety policies and procedures
· Monitor compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures
· Provide corrective coaching and counseling when necessary
· Support scheduling, efficiency, and operational performance of assigned production shifts
· All employees are responsible for complying with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements relevant to their role.
Competency RequirementsSkills & Knowledge:
Experience:
· Strong technical knowledge of plastic compounding and extrusion
· Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
· Strong reasoning skills with the ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with hourly employees, union representatives, coworkers, managers, vendors, and consultants
· Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email
· Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing (preferred)
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma (preferred)
· Minimum 3-5 years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing facility
