Employment Specialist in London, Ontario at HEALTH CARE VOCATION

Position Summary:

The Employment Specialist is responsible for identifying and placing students into program related externships, as well as to provide support and guidance into helping graduates obtain employment in their field of study. They are responsible for maintaining an acceptable employment rate of graduates within a specified period after program completion.

Essential Functions:

• Work with employers to request practicum opportunities for students with the potential of hiring afterwards
• Works directly with students prior to graduation as well as afterwards on cover letter and resume development
• Provide students and graduates with relevant employment opportunities, including updating job boards monthly
• Facilitate opportunities for students to connect with employers utilizing job fairs, campus recruitment programs, networking events, and online resources
• Works alongside employers to organize job fairs at the campus
• Facilitate development workshops geared toward helping students improve:
• Cover Letter and Resume Writing
• Interview Preparation
• Mock Interview/Interview Questions
• Job Search Techniques
• Work with the Director of Career Services to reach employment goals and prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports based on required data
• Communicate new hires to campus staff
• Work professionally in a team environment
• Other duties as requested by the Campus Director

Position Requirements:

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: This position requires a minimum formal education of a Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business Administration or a related field. A minimum of three years’ work experience in employment or educational fields required.
