Job Description
Functioning within the goals of the Lima Memorial Health System, the Spine & Orthopedic Care Coordinator is responsible for facilitating access to appropriate clinical and diagnostic services across the care continuum for the spine care and orthopedic service lines. Responsible for coordinating and managing all incoming referrals for spine care services and outgoing referrals for orthopedic care. Following clinical protocols, the coordinator will maintain flexibility to accommodate patients and referring providers requests while facilitating the most appropriate first point of care. Ensure that communication is timely and effective among patients, providers, and care teams to ensure continuity. Responsible for monitoring the care of patients sent to receive services outside of the health system and will remain a resource throughout their care journey.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or completion of accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted LPN license for the State of Ohio or Certification as a Medical Assistant by an approved national examination agency is required. Current BLS required.
Experience: One to three years’ experience specific to in physician office practice or hospital setting is preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent customer service skills and demonstrate the ability to exhibit patience and tact, and develop and maintain effective working relationships with all constituents including physicians, patients, coworkers, and the public. Must also demonstrate strong problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must have documented knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical equipment and instruments, and common safety hazards/precautions. Competency with applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing and skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence are also required.
