Title: Senior Accountant II

Department: Finance

Reports to: VP, Controller & Treasurer

Supervises: N/A

Classification: Exempt

Summary / Objective

The Senior Accountant II works under the guidance of and assists the VP, Controller & Treasurer and SVP, Chief Financial Officer in various Finance tasks such as financial and regulatory reporting, month-end closings, budgeting, working with auditors and regulators, controls, general ledger reconciliations, and automating functions. The SFA must be reliable and be able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively. After the initial training period, time to be determined, this will be a hybrid role based on the terms of our Remote Work Program/Policy.

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • 4+ years finance experience. CPA/CFA license is a plus but not required.

  • Prior experience working in or auditing banks or financial institutions.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Preparation of various internal financial statements and external regulatory reports.

  • Prepare and/or review general ledger accounts reconciliations.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts.

  • Prepare and process month end journal entries.

  • Assist in the preparation of the allowance for credit loss (CECL).

  • Review financial data periodically to ensure fairness and completeness of the data.

  • Develop proper operational, data documentation and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Evaluate workflow processes and procedures to develop, recommend and implement procedural and system changes to increase accuracy and efficiencies.

  • Assist with audits as appropriate.

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Superior knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting activities.

  • Strong organizational, communication and financial management skills and the ability to prioritize.

  • Strong numerical proficiency, good problem-solving skills and excellent use of logic.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with the senior management team.

  • Ability to articulate financial concepts and requirements to non-financial audiences.

  • Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications is required. Experience with accounting software (i.e. Oracle, Avid Pay, Blackline, Sageworks) is preferred.

  • Understanding of internal controls is preferred but not required.

  • Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations as appropriate to the position.

Physical Demands and work Environment:
  • Ability to use standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.

  • May require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

  • Sitting for longer periods of time.

  • Must be able to work schedules that meet the needs of the Bank, which may include early morning, evening and /or weekend hours.
