Job Description

Across the data center industry – from deployment, through operations and maintenance, to decommissioning – Salute is the industry leader of delivering global data center services executed with precision.

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing organisation in the critical infrastructure sector and to develop with the business as it matures.

We are looking for an innovative, dedicated electrical design engineer who understands data centre infrastructure and can implement current international trends and technologies in critical AI, HPC, and cloud environments.

You will join a dedicated design team with a wide range of experience in this sector. Your role will be to work with the team to develop solutions, define problems, prepare scopes and tender information, provide technical support internally and externally, support on-site delivery, demonstrations and handover, conduct audits and surveys, and make informed recommendations on behalf of our clients.

We will enable you to perform at high velocity by removing unnecessary organisational blockers and giving you direct access to decision-makers and information.

To be successful in the role:

  • You will need a firm understanding of critical and data centre infrastructure, with a focus on electrical systems, but with awareness of mechanical and controls integration. You should be agile, capable of performance-driven decision-making, apply design thinking, view issues objectively, and demonstrate strong social, economic and cultural awareness, with low ego and a genuine commitment to teamwork.
  • You must be able to analyse and understand complex systems, identify root causes of issues or risks, and decide on actions to resolve them.
  • Focus on getting the basics right. Ensure that what we produce and communicate can be relied upon, implemented and operated in live environments.
  • Put the customer first. Work proactively to become a trusted advisor who is visible, accessible and clear when the customer needs support.
  • Be commercially aware. Understand the customer's critical priorities and be mindful of the technical and commercial drivers that underpin their success.
  • Understand the designer's role in standard construction and engineering contracts (for example FIDIC, JCT, MF1 or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Determine appropriate technical approaches and strategies to fulfil client needs
  • Develop clear, robust performance, quality, tender and client documentation for electrical and related systems
  • Develop high-level cost plans and delivery timelines for electrical infrastructure upgrades and new builds
  • Carry out tender analysis, technical evaluations and bid clarifications
  • Issue and review technical RFIs and design submittals (including single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and protection studies)
  • Audit site infrastructure and hardware, perform SPoF analysis, and provide detailed recommendations, condition reports and costed remediation plans
  • Identify, communicate and address technical problems and risks in a structured manner
  • Develop concept and scheme designs for data centre and critical electrical systems (UPS, generators, distribution, earthing, controls)
  • Witness and supervise commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST) and acceptance testing of electrical and associated systems
  • Stay up to date with international industry trends, codes, and best practices for data centre and critical electrical infrastructure
  • Conduct research and apply new knowledge, including emerging technologies in power, monitoring and controls
  • Contribute to the design of processes, standards and systems that improve delivery quality
  • Implement solutions and designs from concept through to implementation support
  • Support and train other engineering personnel where appropriate

Requirements

  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Experience in developing and preparing client briefs, performance specifications and technical documentation
  • Drafting capability (hand-drawn mark-ups and CAD tools; BIM/Revit experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and listening skills
  • Experience in project management or leading technical workstreams on projects
  • Consistent commitment to ethical codes of practice and safety
  • Willingness to travel across Europe when required for site visits, client meetings and commissioning activities
  • Fluent in English; German or Spanish is beneficial

What We Offer:

  • Structured Career Growth – Opportunities to develop your skills and advance within a growing international company.
  • Dynamic Work Environment – Be part of a global team in the fast-paced data center industry.
  • Impactful Work – Play a key role in ensuring our engineers receive the right training to succeed.
  • Competitive Salary & Benefits – Your compensation will reflect your expertise and contributions. Other benefits offered include: generous annual leave allowance, private medical cover, health cash plan, life assurance, pension and other flexible benefits.

Other information:

The role is a full-time position and can be either fully remote or hybrid-based and your base salary will be commensurate with experience but is expected to be highly competitive. The opportunity is located in the United Kingdom, and will include business travel as needed to meet business demands but will likely be nominal.

At Salute, we don’t have employees. We have team members. It’s our culture, and it’s a significant driver of the success we're able to deliver for our clients. This team-oriented culture is defined by transparent communication, collaborative development and deployment of procedures and best practices, a customer service mindset both internally and externally, and a strong commitment to safety and responsibility.

In addition to the opportunity to work in a great team and earn a competitive salary - you'll gain access to cutting-edge industry training that aims to enhance your skills and support your future development.
