Prompt Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Prompt Engineer based in Canada.

Accountabilities:

The Prompt Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and evaluating AI prompts and workflows to enhance the performance of enterprise AI solutions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, create, and refine client-specific prompts to improve accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of AI-powered interactions.
  • Develop tool descriptions and configurations for agentic AI frameworks to improve system capabilities and user experiences.
  • Test and optimize prompts through structured experimentation, automated evaluation scripts, and performance analysis.
  • Evaluate and benchmark large language models to identify the best approaches for specific customer requirements.
  • Build evaluation frameworks and establish best practices for prompt quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with customer success teams, data scientists, and technical stakeholders to deliver customized AI solutions.
  • Maintain clear documentation covering prompt strategies, optimization processes, testing results, and implementation guidelines.
  • Research advancements in NLP, generative AI, and prompting techniques to continuously improve AI capabilities.
  • Experiment with new methodologies and adapt strategies based on evolving AI models and technologies.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and software development, with experience applying AI techniques to real-world applications. Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of natural language processing concepts and machine learning principles.
  • Hands-on experience designing, writing, optimizing, and evaluating AI prompts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning frameworks and libraries, including tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate AI outputs and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data science is preferred.
  • Experience working with large language models such as GPT-3, GPT-4, Llama, or similar technologies is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools is beneficial.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies is an advantage.
