Job Description

POSITION: Warehouse Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Controller

JOB OBJECTIVE: To effectively procure essential supplies and materials at optimal prices and delivery schedules to fulfill the operational requirements of Easton Utilities business operations. To ensure the efficient management and organization of the warehouse inventory, inventory records, and warehouse processes, maintaining adequate stock levels for regular operations and emergencies, and maintaining security and controls over stock. This position will also be responsible for supervising purchasing and warehouse staff.

This is a full-time, exempt position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business technology, including internet/intranet applications and inventory management software.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in warehouse operations, inventory management, purchasing, logistics, or a related environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control principles, purchasing practices, and material management.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to maintain open, transparent, and effective communication with the Warehouse Supervisor, Easton Utilities leadership, vendors, and employees across departments while building productive working relationships that support collaboration and efficient operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the ability to promote and enforce safe work practices.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification within six (6) months of hire.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in business management, supply chain management or related field (may substitute professional related procurement experience in lieu of degree on a year for year basis).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and actively participate in the daily operations of the warehouse by assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring productivity, and providing hands-on support in purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and material distribution to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for Purchasing and Inventory staff by establishing expectations, managing performance, providing coaching and feedback, recognizing achievements, and supporting employee development.
  • Oversee the procurement function by providing direction for purchasing activities, reviewing material requirements, approving purchasing decisions as appropriate, monitoring vendor performance, evaluating pricing strategies, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to support material availability, timely deliveries, cost-effective purchasing, and operational needs.
  • Oversee inventory management by maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring inventory levels, coordinating inventory counts and reconciliations, supporting inventory control activities, and partnering with Accounting to ensure accurate inventory accounting.
  • Maintain operational readiness by ensuring critical materials, equipment, and emergency response supplies are adequately stocked, readily accessible, and available to support utility restoration efforts during storms, natural disasters, and other emergency events.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and efficient warehouse by establishing operational standards, safeguarding company assets, maintaining organized purchasing and inventory records, and supporting efficient material storage and distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, inventory control standards, OSHA requirements, forklift safety requirements, and other applicable regulations while promoting a safe work environment.
  • Oversee forklift operations by ensuring employees receive appropriate training, certification, and reinforcement of safe operating practices.
  • Evaluate and improve warehouse, purchasing, and inventory processes to increase efficiency, strengthen internal controls, improve customer service, and support continuous improvement.

  • Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. Perform other related duties as assigned.
