Job Description
Lou's Police Distributors has been in business in Hialeah since 1954 and has served Florida law enforcement for decades. From our headquarters we supply firearms, ammunition, body armor, uniforms and duty gear to hundreds of agencies, thousands of individual officers, and a growing business-to-government and Caribbean export book. Our customers protect our families, our communities and our schools; what we ship is their readiness. Your mission demands readiness. Delivering it is ours. We are an FFL holder, ITAR and export licensed, and ATF compliant, and we are investing in technology and operations to build a company that scales.
Job Summary
The Warehouse Associate keeps product moving accurately through LPD's Hialeah warehouse: receiving inbound freight against purchase orders, putting stock away where the system says it lives, picking and packing agency and retail orders, and shipping them complete and on time. The product is uniforms, body armor, duty gear, footwear, ammunition and firearm accessories. Regulated product is handled under LPD's FFL procedures, as assigned and trained by the Warehouse Manager. The Associate supports the Firearms Sales team by organizing and restocking ammunition and firearm accessories, and takes on other warehouse and store-support work as assigned.
This role owns one standard: every receipt and every pick is right in Odoo the same day it happens. Inventory accuracy is what lets Purchasing buy correctly, lets Sales promise correctly, and lets the retail floor sell what the system says is on the shelf. When the count is wrong, all three break.
This is a floor job. It reports to the Warehouse Manager and works daily with the Police Supply and Firearms Sales teams, Purchasing and Receiving.
Key Responsibilities
• Picking and packing: Pick agency and retail orders from Odoo delivery orders. Scan every item. Verify quantity, size and color against the order before it is packed. Pack so the product arrives the way it left. Coordinate with Police Supply production and outside vendors on multi-stage orders. Pick accuracy standard is 99.5% or better, measured monthly through helpdesk error tickets.
• Put-away and location discipline: Every item lives in its assigned Odoo location, and nowhere else. No unlabeled stock, no product staged on the floor overnight, no personal systems. If a location is wrong, fix it in Odoo and tell the Warehouse Manager.
• Returns and floor replenishment: Receive customer returns, inspect them, and restock or quarantine per SOP. Replenish the Police Supply and Firearms Sales floors from the warehouse daily, including ammunition and firearm accessories, and stage uniform items for the alterations team so the floor never waits on the back.
• Cycle counts and inventory adjustments: Count assigned locations weekly per the LPD Way cycle count SOP. Counts are blind. Variances are reported, never quietly adjusted; adjustments require Warehouse Manager approval and a written reason.
• Shipping: Build parcel and LTL shipments, print carrier labels and bills of lading, wrap and band pallets, and load trucks. Everything picked before the daily cutoff ships the same day. Hand-carry the exceptions to the Warehouse Manager, do not let them sit.
• Receiving: Unload inbound freight, count every line against the purchase order, inspect for damage and shortages, and validate the receipt in Odoo the same day it arrives. Label stock before it leaves the dock. Report every discrepancy to Purchasing in writing before end of shift.
• Safety, equipment and housekeeping: No one operates the forklift until trained and certified. Operate the forklift and pallet jack safely and complete the daily equipment check before first use. Keep aisles, dock and racking clean, clear and organized. Report an unsafe condition the same day you see it. A clean warehouse is a fast warehouse.
• Systems and data discipline: Odoo inventory and barcode, Microsoft 365, Teams and the AI tools LPD provides are used properly every day. If it is not in Odoo, it did not happen. Technology is non-negotiable at LPD. We will train you. We will not work around you.
• Cross-functional partnership: Work daily with the Warehouse Manager, Police Supply, Firearms Sales and the Purchasing team on priorities, backorders and problem receipts. Tell people early when an order will be late. A surprise at 4:00 PM is a failure; a heads-up at 10:00 AM is a plan.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• One or more years of warehouse, shipping and receiving, or retail stockroom experience.
• Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire. LPD provides the training. No one operates the forklift until trained and certified.
• Able to lift and move 50 pounds regularly and stand, walk, bend and reach for a full shift. Loads above 50 pounds are team-lifted or moved with equipment.
• Comfortable with handheld scanners and warehouse software. You do not need Odoo experience today, but you will be expected to run receipts and picks in it within your first 30 days.
• Reliable attendance in a six-day operation, including a Saturday rotation.
• Age 18 or older. Able to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Legally eligible to possess firearms and ammunition under federal and Florida law. This role handles ammunition every day and firearms as assigned.
• Able to read, write and speak English well enough to follow orders, shipping paperwork and safety instructions.
Preferred Skills
• Spanish fluency preferred.
• Current forklift certification.
• Odoo, or another ERP or warehouse management system, in a prior role.
• Parcel and LTL shipping experience: UPS, FedEx, freight bills of lading.
• Uniform, apparel or tactical product knowledge, including sizing.
• Prior military or law enforcement service.
What Success Looks Like
• 30 days: Running receipts and picks in Odoo without help. Knows every location in the warehouse racking. Daily equipment check is habit.
• 60 days: Assigned cycle count locations counting clean. Zero unlabeled stock on the dock at end of shift. Discrepancy reports reaching Purchasing the same day, in writing.
• 90 days: Forklift certified. Pick accuracy at or above 99.5% for the month. The Warehouse Manager can take a day off and the warehouse does not slow down.
How We Work: The LPD Principles
Seven principles define how we work at LPD. We hire to them, coach to them and promote against them. They apply to every person in every role, from the warehouse floor to the President.
• Integrity - Do the right thing, every time, especially when nobody is watching.
• Customer First - The customer comes first in every decision we make.
• Ownership - Own the outcome, not just the task.
• Figure It Out - Solve it, and write down how so the next person doesn't have to.
• Say the Hard Thing - Disagree in the room, commit outside it, never in the parking lot.
• Get Better - Keep growing. Tenure is not a substitute for performance.
• Use the Tools - The tools are not optional. We will train you. We will not work around you.
What We're Looking For
A career-builder who takes ownership, drives results, and wants to grow with a company that serves a critical mission. We operate with urgency, accountability, and high standards. If you thrive in an environment where your work directly impacts the business, where leadership is accessible and expectations are clear, and where continuous improvement is the culture and not just a buzzword, this is the role for you.
Compensation
Hourly, non-exempt, full-time. The rate is set at offer based on experience and forklift certification and is reviewed at 90 days. Overtime is paid per federal and Florida law.
Benefits: medical, dental and vision; 401(k) via Vestwell with company match; PTO per the LPD handbook; employee purchase program subject to company policy and, for firearms, the same 4473 and NICS process as any other sale.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
On-site in Hialeah, Florida. Six-day operation with store hours from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM; the Warehouse Manager sets the shift schedule inside those hours, including a Saturday rotation. Requires standing and walking on concrete for eight or more hours, lifting and moving 50 pounds regularly, operating a forklift and pallet jack, and working on a loading dock exposed to South Florida heat. Noise level is moderate. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals with disabilities.
For Internal Applicants
If you are interested in this seat, or curious enough to want to talk about it, tell your manager and email careers@louspolice.com. One paragraph is plenty: why you want it, and one thing you would fix in the warehouse in your first 60 days.
Internal and external candidates are evaluated against the same written instrument.
