Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Internal Auditor based in Canada.
As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will help strengthen the internal control environment and improve business resilience across a global technology organization. You will lead risk-based operational and compliance audits, identify control gaps, and deliver practical recommendations that support sustainable improvements. Working closely with stakeholders across multiple business functions, you will turn complex findings into actionable insights that inform decision-making and operational excellence. You will also contribute to financial controls and SOX compliance while exploring AI and automation to make audit processes more efficient. This remote-first opportunity is suited to an analytical, collaborative professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and influence stakeholders at different levels. Occasional travel will allow you to build relationships and collaborate in person.
Lead end-to-end audits: Plan, execute, and deliver risk-based operational and compliance audits across global business functions, documenting process flows, audit procedures, and testing workpapers with limited supervision.
Develop impactful audit reports: Prepare clear, well-structured reports that go beyond identifying errors to explain root causes, assess risks, and recommend practical, scalable improvements.
Monitor remediation: Track management action plans, follow up on identified deficiencies, and help ensure corrective actions address underlying risks sustainably.
Support SOX and financial controls: Test the design and operating effectiveness of business process controls, assess control deficiencies, and monitor remediation activities.
Drive audit innovation: Explore and implement AI, automation, and data-driven approaches to streamline audit workflows, improve efficiency, and generate actionable business insights.
Strengthen internal controls: Partner with business teams to identify control gaps, optimize workflows, and establish scalable processes aligned with industry best practices.
Collaborate across functions: Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, communicate findings effectively, and support the continuous improvement of the organization's risk management and control environment.
Manage projects independently: Balance multiple audit assignments and priorities, exercise sound judgment, and provide appropriate guidance to other members of the internal audit project team.
Professional experience: At least 5 years of experience in operational auditing, risk consulting, or internal controls, ideally within a Big Four accounting firm or a technology enterprise.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Audit expertise: Demonstrated ability to independently plan, execute, and deliver end-to-end operational and compliance audits across complex business functions.
Internal control frameworks: Strong understanding of internal control principles and frameworks, including COSO and IIA Standards.
Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to produce persuasive audit reports, present findings, and explain complex issues clearly to different audiences.
Organization and prioritization: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Independent judgment and teamwork: Comfortable working with limited direction while collaborating effectively with colleagues and providing appropriate guidance to project team members.
Professional certifications: CIA, CPA, CA, or another relevant professional certification is strongly preferred.
Systems knowledge: Familiarity with ERP platforms such as Oracle and audit management software such as AuditBoard is an advantage.
Data analytics: Experience using tools such as SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, or Python to support data analysis and continuous auditing procedures is desirable.
Location and travel: Must be based in Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta, Canada, and be comfortable with approximately 5% travel for in-person collaboration.
Salary: Estimated annual pay range of CAD $82,720–$103,400, with the final starting salary determined by relevant skills, experience, and geographic location.
Target bonus: Target bonus of 12.5%.
Remote-first work: Work remotely from an eligible province in Canada, with occasional in-person gatherings, team off-sites, or customer meetings as needed.
Paid time off: Generous time-off provisions.
Parental and wellness leave: Access to parental leave and wellness leave programs.
Healthcare: Healthcare benefits, with specific offerings varying by location.
Retirement savings: Access to a retirement savings program and potentially applicable employer contributions.
Additional compensation: Depending on the role and eligibility, additional incentives or equity grants may be available.
Well-being and development: A workplace that encourages initiative, continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
Community impact: Support for employee volunteering and charitable donation efforts.
Inclusive workplace: Commitment to equal employment opportunity and a diverse working environment, with reasonable consideration for qualified applicants.
