Job Description

Are you an experienced Attorney ready to build a legal career where you can make a real difference in the lives of families—without the pressure of billable hours?

At Nelson Elder Care Law, we are searching for a Probate Attorney to lead and oversee the client probate experience from start to finish. You will meet directly with clients and families, provide legal guidance, manage your own caseload, appear in court, and litigate matters when needed.

This is a role for an attorney who is ready to own their cases, make decisions, build relationships, and move matters forward.

You don't have to know everything on day one. We value attorneys who are curious, resourceful, and eager to learn. What matters most is your willingness to take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, find solutions, and follow through.

What makes us different?

  • No billable hours. Focus on serving clients and moving cases forward rather than tracking every six minutes of your day.

  • Real ownership from day one. Take an active role in your cases, develop strategies, make decisions, and guide clients through the legal process.

  • Meaningful client relationships. Help families navigate probate, guardianship, and conservatorship matters during important and often difficult times in their lives.

  • Autonomy with team support. We trust our attorneys to take initiative while collaborating with a team that wants everyone to succeed.

  • A culture built on accountability. Our values aren't just words on a wall. We believe in taking ownership, supporting one another, and doing the right things for our clients and teammates.

  • Room to grow. Continue developing your legal knowledge, strengthen your courtroom experience, and build confidence as a practicing attorney.

Compensation:

$110,000 - $120,000

Responsibilities:

Your Impact.

As an Attorney, you will play a key role in leading the client experience throughout the probate process, including Guardianship and Conservatorship matters. You will manage your caseload with a high level of independence, provide trusted legal guidance, and work closely with our Probate Team to ensure each client receives knowledgeable, compassionate, and timely support.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the client Probate and Guardianship Experience.
  • Help hold the team accountable by overseeing all cases and ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Meet with clients and conduct client consultations, case reviews, and strategy meetings to understand client goals and develop an appropriate legal strategy.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients and the Probate Team on legal questions and issues requiring attorney-level guidance.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and their families through clear communication, empathy, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through.
  • Prepare, review, and file probate pleadings, petitions, motions, and other legal documents as needed.
  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and litigation when necessary. Also proactively monitor cases and take action to keep matters progressing and deadlines on track.
  • Assisting with accounts receivable collections and client account management as needed.
  • Managing caseload with minimal oversight and working directly with legal team members to ensure clients’ goals are met within the expected timeframe.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an attorney who is confident in their ability to practice law, takes ownership of their work, and genuinely cares about the people they serve. The right candidate will be comfortable managing a caseload independently while also knowing when to collaborate, ask questions, and lean on the team.

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
  • Previous probate experience is preferred, but not required. Litigation experience in other practice areas will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and keep matters moving forward.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with clients and families during emotionally challenging circumstances.
  • Excellent judgment, emotional intelligence, and professionalism when working with clients, families, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to navigate difficult conversations, reconcile differences, and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Ability to provide clear, confident legal guidance and explain complex legal concepts in a way clients can understand.
  • Strong legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • A growth mindset and genuine willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve.
  • A commitment to doing the right thing for clients, the team, and the firm—even when it's difficult.
  • A desire to build a long-term career where your legal skills can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families you serve.
