Overview
The Director of Business Analytics will lead business-facing analytics delivery and help Univest use data and AI capabilities more effectively across the organization.
This role will partner with business leaders to clarify business questions, frame analytical work, develop insights, and translate findings into clear recommendations. The role is not limited to reporting or dashboard delivery. It requires business judgment, analytical depth, executive communication, and the ability to challenge and shape vague requests in order to identify the real decision, risk, opportunity, or process improvement behind the ask.
The Director will also support Univest’s AI enablement efforts by helping business teams identify practical use cases, improve adoption of approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot, evaluate the business value of vendor-enabled AI capabilities, and define measurable success criteria for pilots and implementations.
This is a hands-on analytics leadership role in a maturing data environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable working through ambiguity, using SQL and analytical tools to validate data, partnering with technical teams on using datasets and business definitions, and building executive-ready narratives that connect analysis to action. The role is expected to help move the analytics function from report production toward stronger insight generation, business partnership, and measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities
Lead Strategic Analytics and Decision Support
Partner with senior leaders to frame business questions, define performance objectives, and ensure analytics directly support decisions and actions.
Personally prepare and present clear, executive-ready analytics that explain what happened, why it happened, and what should happen next.
Drive recurring business and performance reviews with strong analytical interpretation, narrative development, and follow-through on insights.
Challenge unclear requests and work with business partners to define the real issue, opportunity, or performance gap.
Move analytics beyond dashboards and reports toward insight, decision support, and measurable business outcomes.
Business Data Definitions, Analytics Governance, and Trust
Drive the business-facing definition and documentation of data used in analytics, reporting, and business reviews.
Sit with business leaders and subject matter experts, to understand how data elements are defined, created, interpreted, and used in decision-making.
Align business definitions with enterprise data models, semantic layers, and reporting datasets.
Surface data quality issues, inconsistent definitions, or source-system constraints that impact analytics credibility.
Ensure analytics outputs can be clearly explained and defended to business and executive audiences, including known limitations and data caveats.
Lead Practical AI and Advanced Analytics Use Cases
Identify and implement selective, practical uses of AI and advanced analytics that improve insight generation, decision support, forecasting, or analytics productivity.
Help evaluate AIenabled vendor solutions and embedded AI capabilities based on business impact, feasibility, strategic fit, and risk profile.
Support adoption of approved AIenabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) where they materially improve analytics delivery, business understanding, or decision-making efficiency.
Qualifications
Required
10+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, strategic reporting, data science, or related data roles.
5+ years of experience leading analytics, BI, reporting, or advanced analytics teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience independently querying data, performing analysis, and translating findings into business recommendations and measurable outcomes.
Strong hands-on fluency in SQL is required. Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools is required. Strong Excel skills for data analysis.
Experience mining, analyzing, and interpreting data using a range of analytical and statistical techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analysis clearly to senior leaders and non-technical audiences.
Strong experience in KPI development, business performance analysis, dashboarding, executive reporting, and decision support.
Working knowledge of modern analytics environments including cloud data platforms data architecture, data modeling, curated reporting layers, and ETL pipelines.
Comfort using AI-enabled productivity and analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot)
Ability to work in close partnership with data architecture, data engineering, and data operations teams to build trusted, insightful analytics.
Comfort navigating ambiguity, legacy systems, and organizational resistance to deliver meaningful change.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Data Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Econometrics, or a related field.
Preferred
Experience in banking or financial services strongly preferred, but equivalent experience in other regulated financial environments will be considered.
Experience with Python or R for analytical work, data exploration, or automation.
Experience supporting executive committees, senior management forums, or board-related reporting.
Familiarity with analytics governance practices such as metadata, lineage, business glossaries, data quality controls, and MDM.
Experience with Azure-based analytics environments, Microsoft Fabric, or similar modern platforms.
Experience evaluating or overseeing analytics and AI-related third-party vendors.
Wage Range:
The salary for this position ranges from $180,000 to $200,000
