This role sits at the intersection of healthcare operations, data integration, and technical business analysis, supporting critical electronic data interchange (EDI) processes within a mission-driven environment. You will work closely with business, development, and testing teams to translate complex healthcare and technical requirements into clear, actionable user stories and system specifications. The position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient data exchange across healthcare systems, including claims, eligibility, and payment transactions. You will be responsible for bridging communication between stakeholders while supporting integration, testing, and validation activities. The role requires strong analytical thinking, deep understanding of healthcare data standards, and the ability to operate in Agile environments. - Gather, analyze, and document detailed business and technical requirements for EDI-related epics, features, and user stories.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, developers, testers, and external partners to clarify EDI requirements and resolve issues.
- Support end-to-end EDI integration testing, validation, and onboarding with third-party vendors and trading partners.
- Design, map, and maintain EDI workflows, processes, and data exchange structures across healthcare systems.
- Translate complex healthcare business needs into structured functional and technical specifications.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
- Develop process flows, documentation, test plans, and project materials to support delivery and implementation.
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing EDI processes, systems, and operational workflows.
- Support troubleshooting and issue resolution related to EDI transactions and data exchange failures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems analysis, or EDI-focused business analysis roles.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare EDI standards and transactions (e.g., 837, 835, 270/271, 999, 277).
- Hands-on experience with EDI mapping, processing, onboarding, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of HIPAA, X12/EDIFACT standards, and healthcare data exchange protocols.
- Experience working with EDI tools such as Gentran, IBM Sterling Integrator, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with SQL, data workflows, ETL processes, and healthcare data systems.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including user story development and backlog management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality documentation under deadlines.
- Nice to have: experience with HL7, FHIR, MuleSoft, RabbitMQ, or similar integration technologies.
