About This Position
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bryan Health is responsible for (1) operations and achieving operational results at Bryan-owned hospitals and clinics (Affiliates); (2) assisting the CEO in developing the strategic direction of Bryan Health and cascading this to Affiliates; (3) coaching and cultivating talent at the Affiliates; (4) representing Bryan to all constituents (communities, physicians, industry, legislators) as requested; (5) assuming leadership of Bryan Health in the absence of the CEO. It is expected that these responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with Bryan Health values and its strategic plan.
Reports to President/Chief Executive Officer of Bryan Health Systems. Directly supervises Affiliate CEO/CAOs as well as the system CMO, CNO, SVP of Rural Services and SVP of Physician Partnerships and Facility Services.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates and promotes our core values.
2. *Serves as a key member of the Bryan Health executive leadership team in the identification of growth opportunities and the development and execution of an Integrated Strategic Plan.
3. *Serves as active Bryan Health presence and support in the field and participates as a colleague with Affiliate management teams and Boards at appropriate intervals. Communicates, clarifies, interprets and operationalizes the Mission and Values of the Bryan Health with all constituencies including, but not limited to, the Board of Directors, Medical staff, management staff, employees, patients, visitors and the community in general.
4. *Directs the development and implementation of strategic planning activities of Affiliates, including assessment of the environment, drafting of necessary strategies, goal objectives and plans, and the development and implementation of an appropriate organizational structure.
5. *Serves as a primary interface with Affiliates in the areas of capital and operating budgets, strategic plans, operating plans, budgets, quality improvement, and performance measurement/accountability, and ensures they are effectively implemented and in alignment with organizational-wide priorities.
6. *Develops and implements System-wide policies and procedures governing operational, financial and compliance matters.
7. *Establishes and implements systems to monitor organizational performance against goals and objectives, including financial and clinical goals; ensures performance is continuously improved through the application of sound, current quality improvement philosophies, tools and techniques.
8. *Implements systems and processes that assure compliance with all regulations governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting and licensing bodies; ensures the continuous monitoring of operations and programs and the implementation of changes where necessary to meet or exceed these requirements.
9. *Ensures the establishment of systems and processes necessary to safeguard the physical, financial and human resources of the organization; ensures operating units have the resources (staffing, space, supplies and equipment) necessary in the provision of quality care; implements sound administrative/management practices and continuous quality assessment and improvement methods and techniques to ensure the highest quality of services possible are delivered within reasonable cost parameters.
10. *Assumes leadership of Bryan Health in the absence of the System CEO.
11. *Represents Bryan Health at local, state, and national activities, as required.
12. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

15. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or related field required. Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience as a senior executive in a successful multi-site hospital business or business unit, preferably including the provider (hospital) side required.
