About This Position

The Boutique Event Specialist is a fun, easy-going, team-oriented individual who engages guests, to create a unique and memorable experience at: GSCI’s Build-A-Bear Workshop, in the Girl Scout Trefoil Boutique, and GSCI mobile boutique events.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests in creating their personalized furry friends and selecting Girl Scout merchandise, while ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience.
  • Work with the Member Service Specialist and Director of Member Services to coordinate scheduling, planning for, and leading GSCI’s Build-A-Bear events and troop parties.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining merchandise selections and inventory for GSCI’s Build-A-Bear Workshop and Girl Scout Trefoil Boutique.
  • Assist Member Service Specialist with inventory control processes: completion of transfer paperwork, backorder tracking, shipment receiving, and damage tracking.
  • Process sales and restock merchandise.
  • Open, close, and balance POS drawer.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Employment Requirements

  • Be a registered Girl Scout member.
  • Believe in the mission of Girl Scouting with the ability to communicate the mission to others.
  • Interpret and support GSUSA and council policies and standard procedures.
  • Uphold the code of conduct as outlined in the GSCI Employee Handbook.
  • Represent the organization professionally and uphold the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Ensure diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work of the council.
  • Familiar with safety rules and regulations and take reasonable steps to ensure one’s own health and safety, and that of others, and inform the manager of any hazard.
  • Team player with excellent customer service skills.
  • Be a positive and cooperative employee, willing to share resources and expertise.
  • Ability to pass a criminal and background check.
  • Ability to provide two professional references, with one being a previous supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience in POS and inventory control systems.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends.
  • Valid transportation and current, valid driver’s license and minimum state auto insurance required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including oral and written communication.
  • Comfortable and able to use telephone to converse with customers.
  • Demonstrate ability to meet goals.

  • None

Computer Skills

  • Computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, including word, teams, outlook, excel, and other POS Systems.

Working Conditions

  • Office, Outdoor, and Community work environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and moderate lifting.
  • Exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
