Elementary General Music and Instrumental Band Teacher at Town of Andover – Andover, Massachusetts

Under the direction of the Fine Arts Coordinator and the principals of all APS elementary schools, the Music teacher will teach elementary instrumental music classes as scheduled and will coordinate the music program with classroom programs when appropriate. The Music teacher may be responsible for additional sections as needed, including grade 3 recorder instruction.
-Conduct music classes as scheduled.

-Provide clear written plans on a weekly basis.

-Report on pupil progress through student report cards.

-Instruct Elementary instrumental band music classes

-Coordinate and participate fully in instrumental rental, parent communication, and performance components related to the program

-Report to parents on student progress when necessary.

-Articulate music interdisciplinary program with classroom teachers.

-Implement music curriculum.

-Provide robust online instruction and resources as needed
-Massachusetts certification in the area of music at the elementary level in instrumental music instruction.

-Demonstrated successful teaching techniques in instrumental music including individual, small group, and full-band instruction

-Knowledge of recorder techniques.

-Demonstrated successful techniques in integrating the music program into the curriculum of other disciplines.

-Knowledge of successful techniques in mainstreaming the learning disabled.

-Ability to communicate articulately and cooperatively with teachers, parents and administrators.

-Ability to team-teach and co-teach music courses and successful knowledge of co-teaching strategies

-Demonstrate instrumental expertise including brass, wind, and percussion instruments

-Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
