The mission of CPLC's Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is to promote the health, well-being, and stability of refugees, unaccompanied alien children, and other eligible individuals and families, through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services. ABOUT THE ROLE
In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, CPLC provides short-term shelter care for unaccompanied children who arrive in the U.S. without a parent or legal guardian. Our team delivers high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services, with strong supports for social, emotional, and physical health—including pediatric, dental, and nutritional care.
As a Youth Care Worker Lead, you will:

Supervise and mentor Youth Care Worker staff, ensuring safety, ratios, and program standards are met.

Support daily operations, including client activities, transitions, and incident reporting.

Participate in trainings, safety initiatives, and fill in as needed across program areas.

Help ensure every child receives trauma-informed care and timely reunification with their family sponsor.
Our ultimate goal: Every child should leave our care quickly and safely to join their family sponsor—while having received trauma-informed support that addresses the emotional, social, and developmental impacts of their migration journey.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- High School Diploma or equivalent degree and a minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents.
- Associates degree with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience, highly preferred.
- Minimum age of 21 years or older.
- English/ Spanish bilingual capabilities required.
- Must possess and maintain a current valid Driver’s License meeting company standards of insurability
- Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.
- Must be able to perform emergency behavioral intervention (EBI) for clients in care when necessary.
- Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
- Clean criminal background check.
- Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check.
- Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care of clients if accommodations are required.
