CPLC Prestamos is an award-winning Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity that has provided small business loans and high-quality technical support services to business owners in underserved communities since 1980. CPLC Prestamos now offers loan products, business consulting services and investment opportunities in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?As the Senior Business Development Officer, you will be the driving force behind originating all Prestamos loan programs, including SBA and NMTC loans. You’ll build and maintain a strong referral network with bankers, brokers, accountants, lawyers, and business associations to generate new opportunities.
You’ll craft complex loan proposals, complete initial underwriting, and prepare full credit packages while managing client relationships and guiding the loan process from start to finish. Additionally, you will lead, mentor, and support the sales team to achieve business development goals and expand Prestamos’ impact across multiple markets.
Your work will directly help business owners access funding, grow their companies, and contribute to stronger communities.

You bring strong sales, marketing, and business development skills, combined with the ability to educate, present, and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You are analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple priorities while mentoring a team to success. Bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, marketing, economics, finance, or urban studies from a recognized college or university or equivalent qualifying experience in Business Finance or related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales, marketing, and general underwriting principles as well as SBA Lending.
- Valid Driver’s License in good standing and proof of insurance.
- Knowledge of commercial business and real estate loan structuring, underwriting fundamentals and sales and marketing techniques.
- Ability to educate business owners, brokers, bankers, civic personnel, and related financial professionals on lending programs.
- Principles and practices of financial management.
- Methods of presenting economic development and financing information to the public.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively
- Strong sales and marketing skills.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with loan processing software.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to lending.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, especially Microsoft teams).

- Proven ability to follow-up and meet deadlines.
- Excellent initiative, flexibility, and stress-management in handling the demands of leadership.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and delegate in order to balance the many responsibilities, and address the various issues that a leader faces during the workday.
