MANAGER-OPERATING ROOM & PACU at Westchester Medical Center – Poughkeepsie, New York

The Manager, Operating Room & PACU, provides leadership and oversight for all day-to-day operations in the Operating Room and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This role ensures safe, efficient surgical care and optimal patient throughput by managing staffing, scheduling, and coordination among surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee daily operations of the OR and PACU, ensuring patient safety, quality care, and efficient case flow.
• Manage staffing assignments, scheduling, and workload distribution to meet operational needs.
• Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams to optimize patient throughput and resource utilization.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement operational enhancements.
• Support professional development and training of OR and PACU staff.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control, and patient safety programs.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years peri-procedural or perioperative nursing experience or a combination of critical care experience, with at least 2 years in a progressive leadership role.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Current RN license in New York State.
• Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) preferred.
