About This Position

Floor Inspector
Reports To: Shift Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: Responsible for the quality of all incoming and outgoing products as well as floor auditing and inspections. You will be a firm advocate of quality in our products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads blueprints and understands GD&T.
Uses standard and metric measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
Performs receiving inspection occasionally.
Assists in final inspections when required.
Performs inspection at machines per part specific inspection criteria.
Works with Quality Management on projects requiring inspection functions.
Assists with inspections of prototypes and new parts when required.
Assists production in verifying the operator is performing all inspections requirements on the inspection card are being followed.
Follow the requirements of WI-905 (Rejection Procedure) for non-conforming product.
Assist in layout inspection, if required.
Performs all other duties assigned.

Education and Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard and metric measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, etc. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
Mathematical Skills –Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills: Document notes in computer as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is constantly moving about the job site to determine the quality of parts being made. The individual needs to move about on the shop floor to transport parts, access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the work order. The individual frequently positions self to inspect parts. They use the hands continuously while performing all job duties. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and shop. Must be able to detect part defects from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken. They must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 30 pounds. The individual must be capable of carrying and loading different parts and tools required to complete the job.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment. Due to the risk of electrical hazards while installing or servicing, additional personal protective equipment and procedures may need to be followed.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment as situations dictate on various job and construction sites. Due to exposure of machinery and electrical currents, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, steel toe boots, and gloves. During warmer months, the required personal protective equipment may cause the employee to be very warm while working. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment.
