Coalition and Outreach Manager
Central WA Coalition to Protect Medicaid
Central Washington Coalition to Protect Medicaid is a new broad-based coalition of aging and disability advocates, businesses, care providers, labor, consumer rights organizations, and families. We will work together to oppose cuts to Medicaid that will harm providers, consumers, and our local community.
This position will coordinate a Central Washington-focused communications and outreach strategy with coalition partners to increase awareness and motivate people to support the campaign to oppose cuts to Medicaid.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead engaging, regular coalition meetings, including setting agendas, scheduling speakers, and developing content.
- Manage internal and external communications to and from coalition members.
- Meet 1:1 as needed with new, prospective, or current coalition members to maintain strong relationships.
- Identify and develop coalition and community leaders to be spokespeople to support the campaign.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop and execute a robust media campaign, including editorial board meetings, editorial opinions, Letters to the Editor, and through social media channels.
- Update and manage coalition listservs and act as point of contact for coalition member's inquiries and requests.
- Coordinate coalition partner engagement through a wide range of activities, including meetings with elected officials, rallies, forums, and community events.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Coalition building and management. Candidates should have experience building and managing diverse coalitions
- Strong Communication: Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills in a variety of audiences.
- Social Media Management: Experience with web and social media graphic creation.
- Facilitation: Candidates should have experience facilitating events and large group meetings, including the ability to manage Zoom meeting rooms, breakout sessions, and complex meetings with many participants; candidates should be able to run both information-sharing meetings and meetings to build deliverables or work products.
- Leadership: Candidates should be comfortable in a leadership position, understand delegation and have experience guiding groups toward shared goals.
- Organizing: Organizing in-person public education events or actions including rallies, townhall meetings, press conferences, workshops, presentations, and trainings. Community or field organizing experience on legislative or electoral campaigns.
- Team Building: Candidates should understand how to encourage collaboration towards outcomes while building an environment with trust, transparency, accountability, direct communication, and honesty.
- Commitment to Equity and Inclusion: Candidates should be individuals with a commitment to racial justice and should possess a strong intersectional analysis of power across race, gender, ability, sexual orientation, etc. that will guide their decision making, information sharing and accountability in their work.
- Self-Guidance: Candidates should be able to work independently executing goals set by the coalition and Washingtonians for the Protection of Medicaid team.
- Campaign Experience: Experience with legislative and/or ballot campaigns and multi-year strategic work to advance policy and/or advocacy campaigns is helpful in this role.
- Policy: Understanding of Medicaid policy is preferred.
- Language Capacity: Spanish and/or other language capacity is preferred.

Please note this is a full-time, 4-12 month temporary and contract position. Travel throughout Central Washington required.
Monthly contract range: $8,000- $10,000 depending on experience.
Applicants will be interviewed on a rolling basis. We’re working on a January start timeline.
