About This Position

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

The YouthBuild Program Director’s role centers around overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the YouthBuild program, which helps at-risk youth obtain educational, career, and life skills. The YouthBuild program provides training and support for young people to complete their education, while gaining hands-on experience in construction and other vocational fields.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will supervise support staff, providing professional development opportunities and ensuring high program performance
  • Collaborate with staff to develop training schedules, deliver educational programming, and mentor youth participants
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that emphasizes teamwork and accountability

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Program Management:
    • Oversee all aspects of the YouthBuild program, ensuring it aligns with the goals set by the Department of Labor and meets WIOA standards
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the program, including planning, budgeting, and staffing
    • Ensure that services are delivered effectively to eligible youth, focusing on educational attainment, career development, and leadership skills
    • Monitor program compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies
  • Collaboration and Community Partnerships:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, schools, businesses, and community groups to enhance resources and services available to program participants
    • Coordinate with employers for internship, apprenticeship, and employment opportunities for program graduates
    • Work with local Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) and other agencies to ensure program alignment with community workforce needs
  • Youth Engagement and Support:
    • Work closely with youth participants to ensure they are supported in achieving their educational and career goals
    • Provide guidance on personal development, including leadership, life skills, and financial literacy
    • Ensure the program promotes a safe and supportive environment that encourages youth to thrive
  • Data Tracking and Reporting:
    • Collect and maintain accurate data related to program outcomes, including academic progress, employment rates, and other performance metrics
    • Prepare and submit reports to the Department of Labor and other funding agencies, ensuring compliance with performance standards
    • Analyze data to continuously improve the program’s effectiveness and participant outcomes
  • Budget and Fiscal Oversight:
    • Develop and manage the program’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
    • Ensure financial compliance with grant requirements and other funding guidelines
    • Provide regular budget updates and financial reports to stakeholders
  • Continuous Improvement and Evaluation:
    • Conduct regular assessments of program activities and adjust strategies as needed to achieve positive youth outcomes
    • Engage in continuous improvement processes by soliciting feedback from participants, staff, and community partners

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, business, or a related field is preferred
  • Significant experience in program management, with a focus on youth development or workforce development
  • In-depth knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and its application in youth services
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including at-risk youth, and foster an inclusive, respectful environment
