Lead Hand – Landscape Construction

Join Horizon Contracting Group as a Lead Hand and work alongside a talented team while gaining hands-on experience toward becoming a Foreman. What You’ll Do
- Operate a variety of power tools and heavy equipment like skid steers, excavators, tampers, and more.
- Set grades with precision using laser levels, screed sand for pavers, and lay base courses for walls.
- Install green roofs, water features, and plant landscapes following BCLNA standards.
- Lead on-site activities and step in as the site leader when needed.
- Ensure the safety of yourself and the team through daily inspections and toolbox talks.
- Work closely with customers and teammates to build positive working relationships.
- Participate in company-sponsored training and educational opportunities.
What You’ll Bring
- At least 3 years of experience in the landscaping or construction industry.
- Previous experience in a leadership role is an asset (we’ll help you build those skills!).
- Computer/iPad literacy is an asset for planning and tracking work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
- Detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors, lift heavy loads, and adapt to changing weather conditions.
Bonus if You Have:
- Post-secondary trades education or working toward your Red Seal in Landscaping/Horticulture.
