We are hiring for a Quality Vendor Specialist to join our team (in our Bloomfield or Mendota Heights Locations)
The Quality Vendor Specialist exists to serve as the primary field liaison for the Quality and Procurement departments, ensuring that architectural materials produced by external vendors meet strict technical specifications and quality standards. The position is designed to mitigate project risk through on-site material inspections, observation of contractually required testing, and active production expediting to ensure project continuity and timely delivery.
Responsibilities
- Material Verification: Perform physical inspections and technical variance comparisons of materials at vendor facilities to ensure compliance with supply agreements.
- Contractual Testing: Observe on-site testing performed by vendors as mandated by specific project contracts.
- Schedule Management: Monitor vendor production timelines and expedite schedules on behalf of project management and procurement teams.
- Stakeholder Communication: Document and deliver real-time, comprehensive reports on inspection results and vendor progress to internal project teams.
- Quality Standards: Identify material defects and technical discrepancies to maintain Permasteelisa’s high quality benchmarks.
- Safety Compliance: Actively participate in safety initiatives and strictly adhere to all safety policies during shop visits.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively within a team environment to support the Senior Quality Manager and broader procurement functions.

Requirements
- Education: Associate's Degree (preferred).
- Experience: 1–3 years of manufacturing inspection experience, preferably with architectural metals or glass.
- Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google Business applications; familiarity with SAP ERP software (preferred).
- Interpreting Technical Documents: Proficient; Ability to read and interpret technical standards from governing bodies like ASTM, as well as mechanical & architectural drawings.
- Material Inspection: Proficient; ability to identify material defects and perform variance comparisons.
- Technical Reporting: Proficient; ability to deliver detailed, timely performance reports.
- Expediting: Competent; ability to monitor and drive vendor production schedules.
Other information
- Representation: Acts as the on-site representative for Permasteelisa North America at domestic and international vendor facilities.
- Technical Reporting: Authorized to document and report technical variances and physical performance issues that may impact material acceptance
- High Travel Volume: Requires the ability to travel up to 40 hours per week with some travel on weekends as needed for international flights.
- International Travel: Must be able to travel internationally, specifically to Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
- Environment: Work is primarily performed in manufacturing and industrial shop environments, requiring the navigation of warehouse floors.
- Travel Vehicles: Frequent operation/occupancy of motor vehicles and airplanes for domestic and international transit.
- Physical Demands: Requires standing for extended periods and the ability to occasionally lift or position materials/equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
