About This Position
Position SummaryThis internship delivers hands-on experience in logistics, plant coordination, and overall business operations within a value-added agricultural manufacturing environment. The role is execution-focused, with direct involvement in production planning, supply chain coordination, and administrative support.Key ResponsibilitiesLogistics & Supply ChainSupport coordination of inbound and outbound freight across multiple facilitiesAssist with scheduling shipments and tracking product movementWork within logistics systems (TMX platform) to manage transportation needsCommunicate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely deliveriesHelp resolve logistical issues and adjust plans based on operational needsPlant Coordination & OperationsAssist with daily production scheduling based on inventory levels and demandSupport inventory tracking across facilities to ensure accurate production planningCoordinate with plant teams to align production, logistics, and storage capacityEnsure adherence to operational processes and safety requirementsParticipate in execution of daily plant operations and production flowBusiness AdministrationProvide administrative support at headquarters, including data entry and file managementAssist with cross-functional projects and operational initiativesShadow operations leadership to gain exposure to business decision-makingSupport documentation, reporting, and process improvement efforts Internship Learning Objectives1. Agricultural Production & OperationsBuild working knowledge of plant operations, inventory management, and safety standardsLearn how to plan and execute daily production schedules across facilitiesDemonstrate capability by contributing to a successfully executed production plan2. Logistics & Supply Chain ManagementGain hands-on experience using a TMX platform to manage freight and logisticsDevelop practical skills in coordinating transportation and meeting supply chain demandsUnderstand the end-to-end logistics flow within a grain processing environmentParticipate in an exit review summarizing logistics experience and key learnings3. Business Operations ExposureGain real-world exposure to operational leadership and business functionsUnderstand administrative and strategic activities required to run a manufacturing businessDevelop a broad understanding of how logistics, production, and business operations intersectQualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, or related fieldMinimum cumulative GPA of 3.0Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the internshipProgram must be a minimum of two years in durationMust be attending an accredited university in North DakotaMust be a U.S. citizen WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job operates within a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job inside the office, the employee is frequently exposed to normal working conditions for an office environment with a noise level that is usually quiet to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. On occasion, employee must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
