About This Position

Role Impact:

As part of an aseptic beverage manufacturing company, the Maintenance Planner will be critical in building and operating an efficient Maintenance Department by planning, coordinating, and scheduling the work of the maintenance department.

In this role, the Maintenance Planner will report to the Head of Maintenance and administer the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Role Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Head of Maintenance, leads the planning process for long-term changes and cost-effective logistics.
  • Provides a weekly schedule of needed work based on production schedules and equipment availability.
  • Works with maintenance and engineering to develop and maintain a work order system based on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) recommendations and previous experience.
  • Generates work orders from Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks and manual requests.
  • In coordination with the Maintenance Clerk, organizes and maintains the parts inventory for the facility and plant equipment.
  • Changes work order status based on follow-up and feedback.
  • Provides daily and/or weekly feedback on Process Safety Management, Work Order and PM status.
  • Assigns work orders to shifts based on production scheduling requirements and Head of Maintenance prioritization.
  • Dispatches time-sensitive emergency work in the maintenance department.
  • Along with Maintenance Technicians, evaluates equipment failure and customizes the program to address the problems by adjusting PM steps and procedures based on machine reliability, need, and use.
  • Responsible for obtaining and kitting parts for PM’s that require parts to be replaced.
  • Performs periodic audits of work performed by others and reports on findings.
  • Provides training to technicians on the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software used.
  • Works with maintenance and engineering to write a preventive maintenance program for new equipment.
  • Works with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to set up PM and calibration programs within the CMMS system.
  • Assists with writing work instructions when needed.
  • Coordinates the repair of repairable inventory.
  • Ensures availability and stages parts for preventative maintenance work.
  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed.
  • Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free workplace.
  • Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
  • Observe and follow GMP guidelines, ensuring product quality.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Education

    High School Diploma. Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of progressively increasing experience in maintenance and facilities services. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems knowledge preferred; working knowledge of CMMS System preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data.
  • Ability to keep detailed accountability records, including budgets, contracts, and inventory.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Technical knowledge of supply chain, purchasing, materials, inventory management, manufacturing and/or related functions.
  • Food manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated process improvement and change management skills are desired.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb up and down ladders, and work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to use hands and arms to reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and manipulate materials and tools.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb constantly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, rotate, push, and pull frequently.
  • Must be able to work around equipment that contains electromagnetic components.
