About This Position
The Mechanical Assistant Shop Foreman assists the Shop Foreman in overseeing the daily activities of personnel who operate machines and perform work to fabricate, assemble, and repair mechanical equipment. This could include an aluminum extrusion assembly, control panels, power distribution equipment, and hydraulic assemblies. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Assists in leading and directing the work of others. Performs a variety of tasks. This position reports to and takes direction from the Shop Foreman.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with planning, assigning, and supervising the daily activities of production personnel (mechanics, welders, machinists, assemblers, testers etc.)
- Work on the production floor as needed to complete assembly projects
- Recommend process improvements where needed
- Track production efficiency, on-time delivery, and other production metrics as needed
- Update and maintain various production reports and schedules as needed
- Ensure shop equipment is maintained and working properly
- Provide staffing and scheduling data to the Mechanical Shop Foreman and Coordinators upon request
- Monitor and enforce quality standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work area
- Perform job closeouts and inspections
- Perform in-process inspections
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED)
- Some secondary education, training, or certification in a mechanical field is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical fabrication, assembly, or equipment repair
- Experience in an ISO environment is preferred
- Experience scheduling and coordinating production workflow activities
- Experience utilizing computers and MS Office software
- Strong time management skills
- Must be able to operate a forklift. Training will be provided.
