The Radiologic Technologist I position works independently to complete a variety of routine, diagnostic radiology procedures to include common and special fluoroscopic exams of routine to moderate complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures. This Radiologic Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to diagnostic radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is PRN, up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits. The hours will be during weekend night shifts.

- Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Radiologic Technologist I position works independently to complete a variety of routine, diagnostic radiology procedures to include common and special fluoroscopic exams of routine to moderate complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures. This Radiologic Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to diagnostic radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Promotes a positive work environment.
- Collaborates with all members of the patient care team.
- Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement.
- Proactive in responding to patient needs.
- Optimizes protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, collimation, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors and appropriate use of lead markers.
- Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
- Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures to include common, special and fluoroscopy diagnostic exams of moderate complexity.
- Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)
- Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.
- Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures.
- Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
- Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects.
- Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
- Performs imaging equipment quality control (QC) at required intervals to ensure all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.
- Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.
- Participates in department projects or shared governance activities.
- Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a technologist.nstructive teaching environment.
