Position Description: Palmetto Corp. is currently looking for a Luteman or Asphalt Raker. A Luteman (Asphalt Raker) is a skilled position that requires proficient technique to redistribute the asphalt mix correctly as it leaves the screed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Adhere to all Palmetto Corp. Safety guidelines

- Spread asphalt with a rake using proper technique and maintained at a steady pace

- Ensure proper technique at seams and joins to insure a smooth surface with minimal segregation

- Shoveling asphalt and sweeping up debris

- Responsible for proper match points and limits of asphalt mix adjacent to concrete structures, manholes, water valves and other fixtures within the road surface

- Assist screed operator with even distribution of asphalt materials onto road

- Shovel asphalt mix into areas inaccessible to paving machines

- Complete other general laborer task as assigned such as cleaning and preparing of job sites

- Operate other equipment as needed

- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends (if needed).

Requirements:

- Must adhere to all Palmetto Corp. safety regulations.

- Regularly exposed to loud noise and all outdoor weather conditions such as dust and airborne particles

- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects – specifically using abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time

- Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination

- Must possess a good degree of stamina, as they are often standing for long shifts

- Noise level is generally loud

- Ability to move quickly

- Must be 18 years or older

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
