Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Sociology Department and Criminal Justice, Restorative Justice, and Criminology Programs at Wheaton College (MA) seeks applicants to teach 4 courses during the 2026-2027 academic year. Two of these courses are during Fall Semester 2025 and two are during the Spring Semester 2026. The courses that we are looking for applications are:
Fall Semester 2026 -
SOC111 – Introduction to Criminology – Tuesdays and Thursday 11:00am-12:20pm
CJ 300 – Criminal Justice Ethics – Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-10:50am
Spring Semester 2027 -
SOC111 – Introduction to Criminology – days/times TBD
CJ250 – Juvenile Justice – days/times TBD
We would be open to applications from individuals that would be interested in teaching one or more of these courses within or across semesters, based on the applicant’s expertise(s). For any of the courses, the direction of the material would be open to your conceptualization as you see it based on the course title.

A Ph.D. (or relevant advanced degree) is preferred at the time of appointment; however, strong ABD or practitioner candidates will be considered.
Compensation and Benefits:

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $5,000 per course.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience of the candidate.
