Located inGreater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

MassBay Community College seeks qualified part timeinstructors for the current and future semesters to teach courses in Law,Criminal Justice, Government, Paralegal Studies, and/or related fields. Ouradjunct instructors hold a master’s degree in a related discipline or JurisDoctorate degree and have obtained appropriate certification and/or licensurewhere applicable.

The ideal candidate willjoin a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve apopulation of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit toexcellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professionaldevelopment. Adjunct faculty are expectedto deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductive toengaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in this positioncommunicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty andadministrators, and responds to communications within a 24-hour period of time.The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading ofassignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, andsubmission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements, and student learning outcomes to meet graduation competencies as appropriate;
  • Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding;
  • Maintain excellent communication with students, department, and division staff throughout the semester;
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning;
  • Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This list isnot to be considered all-inclusive. A supervisor may assign other duties asrequired to meet the needs and foster the mission of the College.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a Master’s degree in related field;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Community College experience strongly preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning;
  • Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively;

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional Information:

Salary: $1,397 - $1,585 per credit

Faculty

All MassBay Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
