Platform Software Engineer (Remote) at Happy Returns LLC – Atlanta, Georgia

Our Platform team builds and maintains the core data platform to support our business, as well as internal tools to support our engineering efforts. We design reliable, scalable services that enable product teams to ship quickly, data teams to operate efficiently, and retailers and shoppers to have seamless experiences.

As a Platform Software Engineer, you’ll build and operate backend services and shared platform systems that power Happy Returns’ products and internal workflows. You’ll focus on designing and maintaining reliable APIs, data-access layers, and service integrations that improve system reliability, performance, and the developer experience across the company.

Your day to day

Take ownership of the successful implementation and delivery of new features and projects using a variety of languages and frameworks such as Golang, Python, and PostgreSQL

Build and maintain data pipelines and tooling powering analytics, operational workflows, and product capabilities

Actively participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of the Happy Returns system

Enforce clean code coding standards and excellent coding practices by conducting thoughtful code reviews and upholding a commitment to testing and maintainability

Learn from senior engineers, contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuously expand your technical and problem-solving skills as you grow into more complex projects

Partner with Product, Data, and other engineering teams to translate their needs into technical solutions

• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and documentation workflows
• Support the health and stability of our systems through thoughtful testing monitoring, and debugging

What you need to bring

1-3 years of experience building backend APIs or services

Experience developing in Go, Python, or another backend language

Familiarity with databases and data storage technologies

The ability to efficiently ship clean, maintainable, and well-tested code

A strong interest in joining a highly collaborative environment and working daily with stakeholders across the organization

Curiosity, adaptability and a readiness to explore new technologies, and introduce tools that make the team more effective.

A self-starter mindset with the ability to learn independently and thrive in a fully remote work environment

Bonus points if you have

Expertise in multiple server-side languages such as Go or Python

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS

Experience with data processing frameworks, ETL/ELT pipelines, or streaming systems.

Exposure to performance optimization, distributed systems fundamentals, or event-driven architectures

Interest in e-commerce, logistics, developer experience, or building tooling for other engineers

This is a fully remote position and is not limited to candidates located in Georgia
