Human Resources Generalist at Rockford Rescue Mission – Rockford, Illinois

DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

• Oversee orientation program and monthly staff in-services.
• Manage HRIS
• Assist and advise all departments in Human Resource matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Establish and maintain Human Resource records.
• Assist in full recruitment process.
• Run bi-weekly payroll.
• Assist with performance management, including performance review process.
• Support leadership in employee relations, to include corrective action as needed.
• Interpret and explain Human Resource policies and procedures to department heads, staff members, and applicants.
• Manage benefit programs and ensure compliance with labor laws.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

• Assist in identifying training needs within the organization that would increase the effectiveness of our ministry.
• Obtain or plan, design and present training programs that will meet the needs of the organization.
• Assist in maintaining records of all staff training and development.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform related work and all other duties as assigned.
• Attend team meetings as requested.
• Supervise Receptionist and HR Assistant.

• Working knowledge of current laws, regulations, methods, and procedures in Human Resource.
• Working knowledge of the guiding principles and philosophy of not-for-profit, faith-based organizations.
• Ability to write clear, accurate, and logical reports and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members at all organizational levels.
• Ability to deal tactfully with clients, donors, and staff.

• Provide spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, guests, and residents.
• Invest in the spiritual development of staff, guests, residents, and donors.
• Pray for and with staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors.
• Insure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purpose of the Mission.
• Handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant of Romans 12:18 and Matthew 18:15-19
• Memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values.
• Participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and all spiritual gatherings.
• Support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism In Service training to grow in knowledge of leading others to faith in Christ.
• Participate in annual spiritual growth training through organization selected curriculum.

• B.S. in Human Resources or Business Management with significant coursework in Human Resource Management.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in the field of Human Resource Management.(Preferred)
• Must be teachable and function as a team player.
• Must display respect, gentleness and accountability.
• Must exhibit exemplary character and integrity.
• Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities.
• Must take an active part in ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all our staff, volunteers and Mission guests.
