Salary Range - $18.84 -$65.56 an hour
Position Description:
As a Junior Marine Technician, you will ensure the readiness and reliability of unmanned surface vessels and other marine platforms deployed in fleet operations and exercises. Your role will involve direct technical engagement, maintenance, and support, alongside contributions to training and integration events. This position requires travel and the ability to work in industrial, austere, and on-water environments.
While the Marine Technician is not typically a customer-facing role, there may be times where you may be asked to work directly with customer personnel and other stakeholders to support training, integration and RDTE (Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation) events. Additionally, you may be asked to perform field operations in industrial and austere environments, including Naval facilities, event locations, and potentially on water during operations or training.
List of responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
· Technical Expertise: Willingness to learn mechanical systems on board unmanned surface vessels and other prototype platforms, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability.
· Maintenance & Repairs: Perform service and maintenance on all mechanical systems, addressing issues promptly to maintain on-water test and evaluation readiness.
· System Troubleshooting: Assist Techs and Senior Techs in identifying symptoms, determining exact issues, and correcting these issues as instructed by others.
· Required Travel: Up to 25% for training, integration, and operational support events.
Requirements:Required Skills/Education
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical systems maintenance, repair, or field support.?
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.?
- Must be able to obtain a Boater’s Safety (COLREGS) certificate
- Basic understanding of diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with reading technical documentation
- Ability to perform in high-tempo/on water environments balancing multiple priorities efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with customers and technical teams.
- A hands-on, problem-solving approach with the ability to adapt to dynamic operational environments.?
- Must be a citizen and able to obtain clearance.
Desired Skills/Education (but not required to be considered for hire)
These are your “nice to haves” but not required…
- Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical and marine systems
- Training or experience with maritime or autonomous platforms is a strong plus.?
- Familiarity with following very structured operational and safety processes and commercial or gov’t fleet maintenance.?
- Experience working in industrial or austere environments, including Naval facilities or maritime settings.?
