Student Health Intern - ED
Position Summary
Under immediate supervision, assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.
Responsibilities
• Assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eating
• Collects and transports non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs
• Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures as needed
• Assists in cleaning and stocking rooms, changing bed linens, and preparing rooms for the next patient
• Transports patients to other departments via stretcher and wheelchair
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Previous volunteer experience required
• Currently enrolled in an educational program that supports pre-health studies
• Completed sophomore year of study or higher and maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or above required
• BLS required
Working Conditions
• Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs
• Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
• Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
• Typical equipment used in a clinical job
• Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
• Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
