About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Foodservice/Independent Markets Outside Sales Representative to manage and expand our customer base in the Baltimore, Washington DC, and surrounding regions. The ideal candidate will sell retail and foodservice items to independent grocers, delis, restaurants, nursing homes, and other businesses. This role includes maintaining relationships with existing accounts, growing accounts as well as identifying and securing new opportunities.
The position requires a strong focus on achieving budget goals and maintaining target gross profit (GP) margins to drive the company’s success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain relationships with independent grocers, delis, restaurants, nursing homes, and other clients in the assigned region.
• Manage and grow the existing customer base, ensuring a seamless transition from the outgoing salesperson.
• Actively prospect, identify, and secure new business opportunities within the Baltimore/DC area.
• Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate retail and foodservice product solutions.
• Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations tailored to each client.
• Monitor and analyze market trends to identify growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of products and superior customer satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and account details in the CRM system.
• Meet or exceed established sales goals, ensuring alignment with budget objectives and achieving target GP margins
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience
• Minimum of 4 years of outside sales experience, preferably in the foodservice or retail industry.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong understanding of the foodservice and retail markets, particularly in the Baltimore/DC region.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Requirements
• Availability to travel within the Baltimore/DC region.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift and carry product samples as needed.
