About This Position
The Flight Dispatcher plays a crucial role in supporting flight operations within the Delaware State University’s Aviation Program. This position is responsible for coordinating flight schedules, monitoring aircraft movements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and assisting flight instructors and student pilots with pre-flight and post-flight procedures.
- Coordinate and schedule flight training activities in collaboration with instructors and students.
- Monitor aircraft availability, maintenance status, and weather conditions to ensure safe flight operations.
- Monitor flights in accordance with applicable Federal Regulations and Delaware State University policies
- Maintain accurate flight records, logs, and dispatch documentation per FAA and university guidelines.
- Provide student pilots and instructors with flight briefings, weather updates, and safety notices.
- Assist in implementing safety protocols and responding to operational or emergency situations.
- Communicate with maintenance personnel and university administration as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations (FARs), university policies, and industry standards.
- Manage the dispatch desk, including answering inquiries and providing administrative support for aviation operations.
- Attend administrative, standardization, review boards and safety meetings as assigned.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, or a related field
- Strong understanding of aviation terminology, FAA regulations, and flight safety protocols.
- Previous experience in flight dispatch or aviation operations preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with flight scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
