Sanitor at Highland Baking Company – Northbrook, Illinois

Highland Baking Company is hiring for our Sanitation Department across multiple shifts!

The Sanitor is responsible for thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting production and packaging equipment, tools, and facility areas. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality standards.

This is a physically active role requiring reaching, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting (50+ lbs), and standing for 8–12 hours per shift.

• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM

• Clean and sanitize equipment used in manufacturing and packaging

• Wipe down conveyors, walls, ceilings, fans, lights, and floors

• Disassemble, clean, and sanitize machinery

• Pressure wash dough troughs, bins, containers, and oven racks

• Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals with proper PPE

• Clean facility areas, including offices, maintenance shop, lunchroom, locker rooms, and lobby

• Perform lockout/tagout procedures

• Participate in GMP and food safety audits as needed

• Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others

• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Strong attention to detail and organization

• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and basic OSHA safety regulations preferred

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs regularly

• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in hot or cold environments

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders frequently

• Willingness to learn sanitation equipment (e.g., lifts, pressure washers, forklifts)

• Ability to use hand tools (hoses, wrenches, ladders, etc.)
