Strategic Leadership: Defining Life Safety in Northern Nevada

The Fire Marshal provides administrative authority and strategic direction across the entire spectrum of community risk reduction. Key leadership priorities include:

  • Executive Direction: Planning, organizing, and directing all divisional activities, including code enforcement, fire investigations, plan review, and public education.
  • Code Mastery & Interpretation: Serving as the District’s highest authority on fire and life safety codes, ensuring consistent interpretation and rigorous enforcement of local, state, and national standards across the District.
  • Policy and Program Development: Developing and administering division-wide goals, policies, and operational priorities, and continuously evaluating service delivery methods for efficiency.
  • Investigation and Oversight: Providing leadership and technical guidance to staff conducting complex fire/arson investigations and managing the outcomes to recommend long-term preventive measures.
  • Interagency Liaison: Representing TMFPD as the primary consultant and expert to architects, engineers, developers, county officials, and community organizations on fire protection requirements.
