Job Description
Alteas Health is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to support behavioral health (psychiatry) services across Illinois and Wisconsin. This role is a key part of our revenue cycle team and is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of the full billing process from submission through resolution.
In this position, you will work closely with internal teams and payers to ensure claims are accurate, timely, and successfully reimbursed. Experience with behavioral health billing and multi-state payer requirements (IL & WI) will be critical to success in this role.
What You’ll Do- Prepare and submit clean claims (electronic and paper)
- Manage and resolve claim rejections, denials, and clearinghouse errors
- Work aging reports to ensure timely follow-up and reimbursement
- Research and resolve unbilled or underbilled claims
- Review patient accounts for accuracy, eligibility, and insurance verification
- Update claims with required documentation to support payment
- Monitor account balances and identify inconsistencies or trends
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing issues and improve processes
This role supports behavioral health services, where billing requires a strong understanding of payer nuances, documentation requirements, and state-specific regulations. Candidates with experience in psychiatry billing and Illinois/Wisconsin payer environments will be best positioned to succeed.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with behavioral health / psychiatry billing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Requirements
- Experience billing in Illinois and Wisconsin
- 3+yrs Experience with behavioral health / psychiatry billing
- Associate’s degree
