Summary
The Purchasing Specialist oversees the purchasing and inventory of raw materials essential for production, with an emphasis on maintaining quality and cost efficiency.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Order raw materials from vendors in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Verify and receive materials to ensure accuracy and quality of items received.
- Process purchases using company credit cards and balance statements accordingly.
- Confirm, process, and approve invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Check the quality of goods received, addressing and resolving any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.
- Maintain and update an accurate inventory of all materials required for production.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply, preventing shortages or production delays.
- Track and manage material analysis, ensuring all data is documented and communicated effectively.
- Work closely with upper management to align purchasing and inventory strategies with company goals.
Qualifications
- Experience in one or more of the relevant fields: business, manufacturing, supply chain management, or finance is required. A Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and internal collaboration.
- Problem-solving skills to address quality or purchasing issues effectively.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based with some time spent in the warehouse or production areas to inspect materials and inventory.
- Collaboration with other departments.
- May involve standing, walking, or moving between office and storage/warehouse areas.
- Occasionally lifting or moving items when handling inventory samples or materials.
- Potential exposure to warehouse or production equipment and materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in some areas.
