About This Position
Summary:
Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers, such as inspectors, precision workers, machine setters and operators, assemblers, fabricators, and plant and system operators in accordance with established practices, processes, regulations, guidelines and standards in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations. Drive improvements and enhancements to plant safety programs.
- Responsible for the daily management of production processes for the production/manufacturing unit. Direct and execute daily production requirements. Monitor, maintain and exceed production standards for efficiencies, material waste and quality. Execute production schedules to achieve on-time delivery. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
- Review activity reports, monitor and optimize operating cost within the department.
- Evolve production processes to improve quality, timeliness, consistency, and customer satisfaction. Drive improvement in product quality and reduction of process scrap/waste.
- Manage a team of production associates, including training, on-boarding, scheduling/coordination and performance appraisals. Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers. Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked. Incorporate vision and values into day to day activities and behaviors guiding and motivating others.
- Represent the production group in discussions and decisions with other departments or business units. Lead successful implementation of continuous improvement projects.
- Communicate and clarify company/department policies and procedures. Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
- Ensures production area housekeeping meets established standards.
- Work with other departments and managers to achieve company initiatives and goals.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, or equivalent; and over two (2) years up to and including four (4) years of experience or training in manufacturing; or any combination of education, experience and training.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

The primary work location for this job is in an office located in the production area which is not climate controlled, has operation of industrial machinery and equipment.
This job does not require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing tasks in the personal office setting. The associate will be required to wear PPE, such as safety glasses, closed shoes, hearing protection when entering and working in manufacturing and warehouse areas, restricted areas, or areas designated with specific PPE requirements.
