Sr Manager, Instructional Design Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Manager, Instructional Design – Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions based in United States.

This role leads a team of instructional design professionals responsible for creating learning strategies that directly support business performance.
You will partner with business leaders to identify capability gaps, prioritize learning investments, and align development initiatives with organizational goals.
The position oversees scalable learning experiences across instructor-led, virtual, digital, and blended formats.
You will guide complex learning portfolios, manage resources and priorities, and ensure initiatives deliver measurable business and learner outcomes.
The role combines strategic consulting, people leadership, curriculum development, and continuous improvement in a large, matrixed environment.
You will also champion emerging learning technologies, including AI-enabled development practices, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of learning solutions.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Manager will provide strategic direction for instructional design initiatives while leading and developing a high-performing team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop instructional design professionals, fostering engagement, accountability, collaboration, and career growth.
  • Partner with business leaders to assess capability and learning needs and align learning strategies with organizational priorities.
  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructor-led, virtual, digital, and blended learning solutions.
  • Oversee learning portfolios, project prioritization, resource allocation, timelines, and delivery across multiple business initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted consultant to stakeholders, recommending learning and performance solutions that address business challenges.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging learning technologies and AI-enabled development practices.
  • Establish and monitor success metrics to evaluate learning effectiveness and measurable business impact.
  • Ensure learning solutions meet quality standards, support operational objectives, and deliver meaningful results.
  • Build a team culture centered on collaboration, customer service, creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strategic instructional design expertise with strong people leadership, consulting, and stakeholder management capabilities. Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8 years of experience in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or a related discipline.
  • Alternative combinations may be considered, including a master’s degree with 6 years of experience, a Ph.D. with 3 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex learning initiatives involving multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong consulting, coaching, communication, project management, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and influence decisions across different levels of an organization.
  • Experience supporting operational, technical, field, or customer-facing organizations is preferred.
  • Experience leading instructional design teams within a large, matrixed organization is preferred.
  • Experience with learning technologies, vendor management, and AI-enabled learning development practices is preferred.
  • A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • PMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, ATD, or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Ability to work from the nearest company office 1–2 days per month; the role can otherwise be performed remotely within the United States.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, and visa sponsorship are not available.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.

Benefits:

  • Base salary range of $111,500–$185,900.
  • Eligibility for additional compensation through an incentive program.
  • Remote work flexibility anywhere in the United States, with expected office attendance 1–2 days per month.
