What's the role?

Bilt Mortgages is building something that has never existed before: a mortgage brokerage experience designed around the same hospitality principles that define Bilt's broader platform. As our Principal Mortgage Broker and Qualifying Individual, you'll be the licensed backbone that allows Bilt Mortgages to operate across all 50 states — and a key driver of how we build, grow, and differentiate the business. This role sits at the intersection of compliance, product, and business development. You'll work closely with our product and engineering teams to shape a next-generation brokerage portal, while simultaneously building the wholesale relationships that bring new servicers and brokers into the Bilt ecosystem.

In this role you will...

Serve as the Qualifying Individual for Bilt Mortgages LLC, maintaining licensure and ensuring the company meets all state regulatory requirements across all 50 states
Partner with product and engineering teams to inform the build of a new point-of-sale and loan origination platform, contributing expertise across the full mortgage lifecycle — from lead sourcing and realtor relationships through application, underwriting, and closing
Bring a forward-thinking perspective on AI and emerging technologies to the product development process, helping shape features that create a hospitality-grade experience for borrowers and partners alike
Lead wholesale business development efforts, identifying and signing new servicer and broker partners to expand Bilt Mortgages' reach and distribution
Articulate and evangelize Bilt's unique retention and servicing value proposition to prospective wholesale partners
Represent Bilt Mortgages externally at industry events, partner meetings, and in the broader wholesale community
Stay current on regulatory changes, market dynamics, and competitive developments that affect Bilt's mortgage business

In terms of qualifications we're seeking:

Active mortgage broker license with a minimum of 3 years of residential mortgage origination experience within the past 3 years, meeting Qualifying Individual requirements across all 50 states
Deep, hands-on familiarity with the end-to-end mortgage process — lead generation, realtor relationships, application intake, underwriting coordination, and closing
Proven experience working with POS and LOS platforms and a strong understanding of how technology supports each stage of the mortgage lifecycle
Track record of successful business development in the wholesale mortgage space
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity about emerging technology, including AI, and how it can improve mortgage and financial services products
Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you're someone who can build trust quickly and close

Nice to have:

Experience contributing to the build or evaluation of mortgage technology platforms
Existing relationships within the wholesale servicer and broker community
Familiarity with loyalty, retention, or membership-based business models
Experience at a high-growth startup or fintech environment

Where a new hire falls within a range will be based on their individual skills and experience, and how these competencies compare across other employees in the same role. Bilt's bands are designed to allow for individual compensation growth within the role. As such, new hires typically start at the lower end of the range. Bilt rewards performance and outcomes - should you join the company, you will have the opportunity to grow your salary over time.

The salary range for an Principal Mortgage Broker is $150,000-200,000 and will be eligible for equity and an annual performance-based bonus.
