Managing Director & Lead Financial Advisor

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Managing Director & Lead Financial Advisor based in United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity combining high-level financial advisory work with strategic business building in the retirement planning space for Federal, State, and Public Sector employees. You will operate at the intersection of client advisory services, team leadership, and business development, helping shape a national retirement planning platform from the ground up. The role blends hands-on client work with mentorship responsibilities, requiring both deep technical expertise in retirement planning and strong leadership capabilities. You will work closely with executive leadership to define strategy, build advisor capability, and scale a high-performing practice. In addition to serving clients directly, you will play a key role in developing systems, processes, and culture for long-term growth. This is a highly entrepreneurial environment where leadership impact is direct and highly visible. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in both advisory excellence and organizational building.

Accountabilities

You will lead advisory delivery while shaping and scaling a national retirement planning division focused on public sector employees.

  • Serve as the lead financial advisor for the division, managing complex retirement planning relationships with federal, state, and public sector clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial and retirement planning consultations, converting qualified prospects into long-term advisory clients.
  • Provide strategic guidance on pension optimization, Social Security planning, TSP strategies, and broader wealth management solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and support financial advisors to improve performance, client outcomes, and professional development.
  • Support advisor onboarding, training, and ongoing capability development across the organization.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on growth strategy, platform development, and national expansion initiatives.
  • Contribute to building scalable systems, processes, and best practices for a high-growth advisory organization.
  • Strengthen client relationships through ongoing advisory support and long-term planning engagement.
Requirements

This role requires deep financial advisory expertise, strong retirement planning knowledge, and proven leadership experience within advisory environments.

  • 10+ years of experience as a financial advisor or wealth management professional.
  • Active Series 7 and Series 66 (or equivalent) licenses, along with Life & Health Insurance license.
  • Strong expertise in retirement planning, including pensions, TSP, Social Security optimization, and tax-efficient strategies.
  • Proven experience working with affluent, pre-retiree, and retiree client segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage long-term client relationships in a consultative advisory setting.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring or coaching financial advisors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide both clients and advisory teams.
  • CFP®, RICP®, ChFC®, or similar designation preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal retirement systems and/or experience in independent broker-dealer or RIA environments is a plus.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to operate in a growth-focused, entrepreneurial environment.
