Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Medical Assistant / Trainer to join our occupational medicine team. In this role, you will provide advanced clinical and administrative support while also serving as a key trainer for new and existing staff across clinic locations. You will play a critical role in ensuring consistent clinical standards, supporting onboarding, and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced occupational health environment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on clinic assignment
Compensation: Starting compensation range is $24.00-$28.00 hourly. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
*Must be flexible to provide coverage across our Southern California and Orange County clinic.
Responsibilities
- Assist with scheduling appointments, managing patient records, assisting with billing and coding tasks
- Answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries
- Verifying insurance coverage and processing insurance claims
- Performing basic clinical tasks, such as taking vital signs and administering medications
- Assisting our providers with drug testing, physical evaluations, drawing blood samples and other clinical duties
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the back office and exam rooms
- Providing patient education and answering patient questions
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and ethical standards
- Follow company policies, procedures, and directives
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the practice
- Assisting with medical procedures as needed.
- Travel throughout the Southern California and Orange County region to support training and onboarding of new employees, including DOT and BAT certification training
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and medications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Previous experience as a medical assistant preferred
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- Ability and willingness to float between clinics to support provider coverage and staff training.
- BAT Trainer and DOT Trainer certifications preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain certification if not currently certified
