Job Description

.NET Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a .NET Developer based in United States.

This is a senior, hands-on development role focused on building, modernizing, and operating a high-availability enterprise application in a secure cloud environment.
You will take technical ownership of a complex production codebase supporting a cloud-native microservices architecture and high-volume message processing.
The role combines software development, architecture, production troubleshooting, DevSecOps, and technical leadership across the full application stack.
You will work extensively with modern .NET, C#, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, messaging technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS GovCloud.
You will also contribute to the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools, AI agents, and machine learning capabilities within production systems.
Working closely with technical leads, engineering, and operations teams, you will help ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, observable, and maintainable.
This opportunity is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex production challenges and influencing engineering standards in a mission-critical environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as a senior hands-on developer responsible for the design, development, maintenance, modernization, and continuous improvement of a large-scale production application.
  • Take ownership of a substantial codebase and collaborate with technical leadership to establish technical direction, engineering standards, development practices, and architectural improvements.
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs using C#, .NET Core, and modern .NET technologies.
  • Develop and support cloud-native applications deployed in AWS GovCloud, with a focus on security, scalability, resilience, and high availability.
  • Design and maintain distributed services capable of processing millions of messages per month while ensuring reliable asynchronous and event-driven processing.
  • Develop and support messaging solutions using technologies such as RabbitMQ and AWS SQS.
  • Design, develop, and optimize data access and persistence solutions using PostgreSQL hosted on AWS RDS, including database performance optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Develop, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, including Kubernetes environments managed through Rancher.
  • Support the integration and operation of machine learning capabilities within the application’s microservices architecture.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools, code-generation technologies, AI agents, and AI development frameworks to improve engineering productivity while maintaining rigorous development standards.
  • Review AI-generated code and validate it for architecture, security, maintainability, performance, testing, and overall code quality.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor other developers, provide technical guidance, and help establish consistent engineering practices across the development team.
  • Maintain strong standards for software quality and security through automated scanning and static analysis tools such as SonarQube.
  • Manage source code and participate in development and CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps, including repositories and deployment pipelines.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex application, database, messaging, container, infrastructure, performance, scalability, reliability, and integration issues.
  • Partner closely with operations and engineering teams to monitor application health, maintain production availability, and support operational excellence.
  • Support production releases, deployments, troubleshooting, and incident resolution, including occasional after-hours support for planned releases and critical incidents.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve architecture, performance, resiliency, observability, automation, and developer productivity.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, technical planning, estimation, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Bring 8+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale production applications.
  • Demonstrate expert-level hands-on development experience with C#, .NET Core, and modern .NET, including .NET 8, 9, 10, or comparable versions.
  • Have strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.
  • Bring professional experience developing and operating applications in AWS, with AWS GovCloud experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong production experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including experience with Kubernetes management platforms such as Rancher.
  • Have experience building asynchronous, event-driven, or message-based applications using technologies such as RabbitMQ and AWS SQS.
  • Possess strong relational database development skills with PostgreSQL, including database design, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting, as well as experience with AWS RDS or comparable managed database services.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of distributed systems, high-availability architectures, scalability, resiliency, and production application performance.
  • Have experience supporting high-volume production systems and diagnosing complex issues across application, database, messaging, container, and infrastructure layers.
  • Be capable of taking independent technical ownership of a substantial codebase and driving complex engineering initiatives from design through production.
  • Have experience conducting code reviews and providing technical mentorship and guidance to other developers.
  • Demonstrate experience using AI-assisted development and code-generation technologies such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or comparable AI development tools.
  • Be able to apply strong engineering judgment when using AI tools, including validating, securing, testing, reviewing, and maintaining AI-generated code.
  • Have experience with SonarQube or comparable static code analysis and software quality platforms.
  • Bring experience with Azure DevOps repositories, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevSecOps practices.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of secure software development practices applicable to enterprise and Federal environments.
  • Be willing and able to provide occasional after-hours support for production releases and critical incidents.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience with high-volume, mission-critical Federal Government applications, machine learning or AI service integration, AI agents, advanced AI development frameworks, distributed messaging at scale, application monitoring, observability, Infrastructure as Code, and automated cloud deployment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Federal security and compliance frameworks such as FISMA, NIST, and FedRAMP is preferred.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps environments and AWS, Kubernetes, or related cloud/container certifications is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Salary range of $110,000–$125,000 USD, with actual compensation determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, and benefits.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance beginning the first of the month after joining.
  • 401(k) plan with immediately vested employer contributions and no employee matching requirement.
  • Generous paid time off, including one additional paid wellness day each calendar year.
  • Ten paid federal holidays.
  • Pet insurance.
  • Tuition reimbursement and access to internal training programs.
  • Company-sponsored industry certifications and professional development opportunities.
  • Wellness resources, team-building activities, community volunteering, and employee events.
  • Opportunity to work on mission-critical Federal technology initiatives involving cloud computing, DevSecOps, distributed systems, AI, and modern software engineering.
  • Collaborative environment with opportunities to contribute technical expertise, mentor peers, and grow professionally.
