About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, trustworthy, and detail-oriented Human Resources Services Specialist to support our HR team in ensuring a positive and efficient work environment for our dedicated team. This entry-level position will provide administrative and operational support in various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for people-focused work, and a commitment to our mission.

An associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field; or two years of relevant work experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on professionalism and confidentiality.
The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR software, experience with Paylocity is a plus.
A passion for working in a non-profit/start-up environment and commitment to the mission of STEAM education.
A willingness to learn basic HR principles, employment laws, and best practices.
The ability to communicate verbally and in writing, writing in the Spanish language is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties
Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
Support the onboarding process by preparing new hire packets, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
Maintain accurate employee records, including personnel files, benefits documentation, and compliance tracking.
Assist in coordinating training and professional development opportunities for the team.
Assist in scheduling appointments with employees.
Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations. Assist in scheduling appointments with employees.
Support employee engagement initiatives, such as wellness programs, team-building activities, and staff appreciation efforts.
Address general HR inquiries from employees and outside sources, providing timely and professional assistance, escalating to management, as necessary.
Assist in reviewing timecards, cross-checking payroll entries and benefits administration tasks as needed.
Collaborate with various departments to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Perform other HR-related administrative duties as assigned.
