Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The driver will act as an integral member of the 1st Class Childcare team to assist in the overall management of transporting children safely to and from a 1st Class Childcare program/centre in accordance with Alberta's Child Care Licensing Regulations and 1st Class Childcare's driver policy, procedures, and safety manual. This position will report to the Transportation Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct daily checklist/inspection every morning.
- Maintain up-to-date records of bus maintenance.
- Maintain supplies on bus.
- Check fuel daily and refuel as required.
- Confirm child head count at every drop-off and pick-up.
- Ensure all children are in age-appropriate child safety restraints at all times before driving.
- Always maintain constant supervision of the children on the bus.
- Follow safe bus loading and unloading procedures.
- Conduct a daily walk-through on the bus after every drop-off.
- Know and abide by all policies and procedures, including evacuation and accident procedures.
- Daily housekeeping duties as required to keep the bus clean, including sweeping/vacuuming floor and seats, and cleaning/sanitizing high-touch areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Computer proficiency and an ability to be trained on using corporate 3rd-party software.
- Class 4 Commercial Driver's License with a clear driver's abstract to drive up to 24-passenger buses (required for employment).
- Ability to perform employment tests such as a road test, ride-along, and any other special training when required.
- Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Search.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- ECE Certification of any level would be an asset.

- A passion for working with children.
- Strong interpersonal skills to gain the trust and respect of children and their parents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Fast-paced environment.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to walk, bend, stand, squat, or crouch to a child's level.
- Able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
